In the Medieval times, when religion was taken seriously, getting closer to the gods was very important to the people. And so people created ways to become closer to their makers, they created songs, prayers and works of art for their gods to please them and to feel more attached to them and this brings us to how Art elicit feelings of spirituality.

Ever since the dawn of time man has been searching for a purpose, this has leaded them to the question on how he was brought to earth. So they created beliefs and religions to be able to answer all their questions which they believed to be true. Man Created Works of art of their creators on walls in their home or in their place of worship. These Works or art reminds them of their Creators; the art work gives them a visual representation of their maker and aids them in their worship. This may also trigger one’s conscience since they are reminded of their maker’s presence. This has also made a big effect of our history. Through these artworks the foundations of religion became strong and thus the religion grew into countries. Just like Constantine when he saw the cross of Jesus, remembering his mother telling him of it helping the believers in their time of need, used the cross as a symbol of motivation and lead his soldiers in to the war with determination. Defeating an army five times bigger than theirs with the help of the holy cross Constantine has made his people Christians and has spread throughout Rome.

Just like all other religions, Christianity and Islam have rules given to the people by their god. The rules were made to give the people a better life, to help them avoid executing acts that will compromise their constant obedience to their revered and exalted creator. Great Artworks of the maker is destined to remind them of the gods’ power and authority over their mortal lives. Revealing power and enforcing authority will make the people more obedient and will grant peace. But power is necessary because “so long as there will be man there will be war”. With the gods showing us the extents of their supremacy, there are doings of man that gods can forgive yet man cannot accept. Through this they have created a just law that the people will follow and a devoted order that will enforce the law. This law was made to cover all things that the laws of the god doesn’t have and the traditions that the country wish to keep for the rest of their lives traditions that define the very land they live in.

In the end, no matter what people do, man is bound to create a government to enforce the law, keep traditions and remember sacred traditions. Man is destined to make organizations that will restore peace or manipulate the minds of many, but those who lives now is doing all that they can to restore order. With the help of religion it is up to the next generation to take care of themselves.
